RFQ and Q&A

  • Will the list of firms who received the RFQ be shared amongst potential respondents?
We will not release that information about who received the proposal, but we have included the list of attendees of the preproposal meeting below.
  • Will the University meet with potential respondents in a 1-on-1 fashion prior to the RFQ deadline?
Regarding the RFQ we will not be meeting with potential respondents in a 1 on 1 setting. However, we do encourage you to attend our scheduled virtual meeting and site tours to gain more insight into the vision and leverage the Q&A time frame mentioned in the RFQ to gain additional clarity.
  • Are respondents required to attend the preproposal meeting and site visits?
No, attendance at the preproposal meeting and site visits are not required for respondents who intend to respond to the RFQ.
  • Is there a maximum budget set by Shaw? How is Shaw funding this Plan?
Yes, Shaw will not consider a budget for this project exceeding $500,000. In addition to other funds, Shaw is using existing Title III federal funding to pay for this effort.
  • What is the current total enrollment?
Current enrollment is approximately 1100 students
  • Is the boiler plant and stack still operational?
The boiler plant and stack are not operational.  There is no steam plant or chilled water plant for the campus.
  • Will the selected firm be excluded from bidding on future building specific projects? Will the selected firm be excluded from pursuing future work/specifically building design?
No, but the selected firm and its development partners would not get any preferential treatment in any future selection process.
  • Is the thought behind providing Land Use and Zoning recommendations something that the University will attempt to use to amend the newly accepted Shaw U District zoning?
Our preference is not to amend our revised rezoning. Our thoughts behind this Land Use and Zoning recommendation request are to focus efforts on how to maximize the existing zoning classifications keeping in mind (x) market demand and feasibility, and (y) the historic nature of the campus and neighborhood.
  • There were a number of studies mentioned during the walkthrough regarding the area.  Are these studies public records or will the team need to conduct new studies?
All studies will be provided to the selected firm. Some of the studies are still underway.
  • We are wondering if there is a possibility to redistribute the page allocation across the submission, allowing us to assign fewer pages to sections that require less material.
In the section titled "Qualifications, Experience, and Past Performance," there is a request for information concerning both our prime, subconsultants, project experience and references. We have endeavored to present the information concisely, but it appears that even with our best efforts, this section may exceed the 10-page limit. We are wondering if there is a possibility to redistribute the page allocation across the submission, allowing us to assign fewer pages to sections that require less material. This would, in turn, enable us to extend the length of the "Qualifications, Experience, and Past Performance" section beyond the initial 10 pages, while still adhering to the overall 26-page limit (excluding Appendices). We ask that all respondents present the info as concisely as possible and include additional details and back up in the appendices.
